What is the official German surveying and mapping?

The video provides information about the role, tasks and offerings of the surveying and mapping authority and covers the topics of land survey, cadastre, valuation of real estate property, Sustainable Rural Development and building land reallocation.

Background

In the Federal Republic of Germany, the Laender are responsible for performing official surveying and mapping tasks. Since 1948, the responsible authorities of the Laender and the Federal Ministries of the Interior, Defence and Transport have been cooperating together in the Working Committee of the Surveying Authorities of the Laender of the Federal Republic of Germany (AdV) to address technical matters of fundamental and national importance. The German Geodetic Commission, as a representative of geodetic academia and research, and the German Federal Working Group Sustainable Rural Development, representing the field of land consolidation, have guest status in AdV.

The organs of the AdV are the chair and the plenary. The AdV is supported by the working committees, working groups and the executive office.

AdV products

The AdV ensures that high-quality geodata is made available throughout Germany in a uniform manner in accordance with international norms and standards. All AdV products are based on technical AdV standards and are intended to meet the requirements of legal transactions, administration, industry and science and, in particular, to adequately take into account the needs of regional planning, urban planning, environmental protection and nature conservation.

AdV member authorities

The AdV includes the Laender surveying and mapping authorities of the Federal Republic of Germany (member authorities). The AdV's other member authorities include:

  • the Federal Ministry of the Interior,
  • the Federal Ministry of Transport,
  • the Federal Ministry of Defense.

The member authorities are the highest Laender authorities and federal ministries, to which the upper Laender and federal authorities are subordinate.
