ATKIS® Digital Landscape Models

Product group definition

The following Digital Landscape Models (DLM) with different information densities are being set up in the course of the ATKIS®-project by the German state survey for the standardised topographical description of the territory of the Federal Republic of Germany:

• Digital basic landscape model – Basis-DLM
• Digital landscape model 50 - DLM50
• Digital landscape model 250 - DLM250
• Digital landscape model 1000 - DLM1000

The DLMs describe the topographic objects of the landscape and the relief of the Earth’s surface in vector format. Objects are assigned to a specific feature type and defined according to their location in space, geometrical type, descriptive attributes and relations to other objects. Every object has a unique identification number (identifier) throughout Germany. The respective ATKIS® Feature Type Catalogue (ATKIS®-OK) specifies which feature types a DLM contains and how the objects must be formed. The ATKIS®-OK are part of the AFIS®-ALKIS®-ATKIS®  documentation (GeoInfoDok). Most parts of the GeoInfoDok are available only in german.
